Stainless steel ISO-kinetic sample probe w/ Tubing Applicable for: CI-x52x, CI-x53, CI-x54
Sample probes are designed to entrain particles into the inlet or transport tubing without creating turbulence that might repel some of the particles away from the sample tube or inlet. The funnel shape helps the air belonging to the sample (described by the outer circumference of the funnel) to increase in velocity as it is accelerated, so that the same volume fits into the narrow diameter of the tubing or inlet.
The probe also helps assure large particles (such as the 5 µm particles) are entrained into the tubing. Without the wide mouth of the probe, the inertia of large particles that are not close to the inlet could cause them to float past the inlet and not be counted.
The standard probes are designed for use with up to 10 feet of tubing to access sample points where it would be inconvenient or impossible to place the particle counter. The probes are made of 316L stainless steel. These are the probes that are supplied, by default, with new particle counters.

Light Blocker and light blocker Iso Probe Applicable for: CI-x52x, CI-x53, CI-x54
When sampling directly under a light fixture without sample tubing, light can shine directly though the inlet into the sensor. Particles are detected as dim flashes of light as particles pass through the laser beam; fluorescent light fixtures introduced in recent years to reduce eye strain and headaches turn off and on tens of thou¬sands of times a second—to the photo detector, they appear as particles, lots of particles. The problem is compounded by the wider inlets of portable particle counters.
For those preferring not to use sample tubing, Climet has designed the light blocker probe to fit directly onto the inlet without tubing. Designed into the probe is an aerodynamic blocker that prevents light from shining directly into the sensor. Other companies have tried placing baffles in the inlet to block light, but they act as impactors, trapping 5 µm particles; the aerodynamic shape allows the particles to flow around the light blocker.

The light blocker probes are made of hard black anodized aluminum. Upon request these probes can be substituted for the standard isokinetic probes when purchasing new instruments.

Sample Probe Stand Applicable for: CI-x52x, CI-x53, CI-x54
Climet offers both a small, less expensive probe stand with a plastic tilt head, and a heavier, larger stand with an aluminum tilt head. The larger stand is more rugged and is less likely to tip over.
Zero Count Filter Applicable for: CI-x52x, CI-x53, CI-x54
Purge or zero count filters allow the user to make a quick sanity check of the sensor before making the day’s round of monitoring; the test demonstrates that there is no major problem with the instrument that would result in false, high counts. Another valuable test is to verify that, without the filter, the instrument produces normal counts.
Zero count is a misnomer; the expectation is not absolute zeroes, but simply that the counts are less than 10% of the cleanest area to be sampled, and thus will not affect the evaluation of any of the rooms to be monitored.
Purge filters are also useful when unusually high counts occur; by obtaining few if any counts with a filter, the user demonstrates that the instrument is not producing the counts internally.
High Pressure Diffuser Applicable for: CI-x52x, CI-x53, CI-x54
The CI-301 High Pressure Diffusers are used when sampling pressurized gasses.
The diffuser comes with a manual, six feet of tubing, the diffuser, and a mating quick disconnect fitting

Transport (sample) tubing Applicable for: CI-x52x, CI-x53, CI-x54
The transport tubing of choice within the particle counting industry is Bev-A-Line XX tubing. This tubing presents the least amount of particle loss of any of the tubing on the market.
Bev-A-Line XX has a black, polypropylene jacket with a Hytrel® lining. The Hytrel® lining provides the resistance to particle loss, but some particles will still adhere to the inner surface of the tubing.
Bev-A-Line XX tubing can be autoclaved.
9.6V Ni-MH Battery Applicable for: CI-x52x, CI-x53, CI-x54
Climet’s current portable particle counters and microbial samplers use Nickel Metal Hydride battery packs that are made to Climet design requirements for safety.
Thermal Printer Paper Applicable for: CI-x52x, CI-x53, CI-x54
Printer paper is available with standard thermal paper or cleanroom paper. The cleanroom paper is made of a plastic material that does not produce paper dust; it is not sterile. (Sterilization methods generally involve heat or chemicals and would turn the paper’s heat sensitive emulsion black)
Shipping Case Applicable for: CI-x52x, CI-x53, CI-x54
It provides a strong outer shell, with concussion absorbing foam that fits snugly against the particle counter to protect against mishandling during shipment.
The shipping case does not have room for accessories.
Barcode Scanner Applicable for: Cl-154, Cl-454, Cl-754, and CI-1054
USB Flash Drive Applicable for: Cl-154, Cl-454, Cl-754, and CI-1054

Universal Secure Excel Macro for Windows Applicable for: CI-x52x, CI-x53, CI-x54
The more expensive Secure Excel Macro complies With 21 CFR, Part 11. Data cannot be altered. Data would have to be copied to a separate spreadsheet to perform filtering functions and other data manipulation.

The software may be loaded onto a server or onto multiple computers located in the same building and belonging to the same department.
Unit Validation Document Applicable for: CI-x52x, CI-x53, CI-x54

What is the validation document?

The operation of the particle counter is a product of the firmware. Validation, then, is essentially a testing of the firmware (the operating system of the particle counter.) Each time the firmware is upgraded, the firmware has to be validated.
The testing of the firmware is documented in the validation document, which contains the results, and even print-outs of the validation testing. Each parameter is tested, and calculations made by the firmware are verified with a calculator.
Many companies use the validation document as part of their validation process, reducing the amount of actual testing that they have to do. There is a nominal charge for the reproduction of the engineering validation test document. Each document is model specific. (Validation is a design test, and is not part of the manufacturing testing of individual units.)

Compliance

We do not, at this time, have third party certification or accreditation. We are operating a quality system based on ISO 9001. (We expect to be ready for a certification audit in 2011.)
ISO 17025 is a third party accreditation standard for calibration labs. It incorporates aspects of ISO 9001 with elements of ISO 10012, with additional requirements that a lab

Calibration system standards

Climet complies with the calibration system standards ANSI Z540 and ISO 10012. The calibration certificates issued with our instruments comply with the requirements of these standards.

Particle counter calibration and testing standards

The ISO 21501-4 standard for particle counter calibration and testing was released in 2007. It effectively supersedes the Japanese Industrial Standard, JIS 9921, which established standards for 50% and 100% count efficiency. The new standard added a specification for resolution, and expressed zero count testing as a false count rate.
Climet particle counters with manufacturing dates at least as old as 1996 have passed the new standard—we are the only manufacturer that did not need to redesign to meet the standard.
